NANCY FALLING FROM GRACE…

July 9, 2011 8 comments

WWH – An open letter to Nancy Grace.

By Diana May Waldman

Dear Nancy,

You are truly grinding on my very last nerve. You’ve always gotten on my nerves, but as of lately, I can no longer bear to hear your voice. When I think about you my brain conjures up words like, “yellow journalism” and “sensationalist” and of course, “scandal monger.”

The mere tone of your voice screams dominatrix. Hey, and that’s okay. Whatever floats your boat. But, it goes beyond being a crusader, as you have self titled yourself. In my opinion, you more resemble a fire breathing dragon of bullshit.

Would I want to sit down for a cup of coffee with you? No.
Would I want to high five you and say, “Hey, girlfriend!” No.
Do I think you are true advocate for the missing?” No.

I mean, I believe you may have started out that way. But, somewhere along the lines, the glitz, the glamour of it all, the chinking of change filling up your money jar, got in the way. You fell from GRACE.

That couldn’t have become any clearer to me than during your coverage of the Casey Anthony trial.

Being a former prosecutor gives you the right to an opinion, but it never gave you the right to become judge and jury. And an opinion is not the law. Nor is a hunch. While people stayed riveted to the trial of Casey Anthony–the young mother accused of killing her daughter–they formed an opinion. People talked about it and listened for the evidence. But, see, most of us are ordinary people. We don’t have a television show. We can’t warp the minds of people or strong arm them into our way of thinking. You can and you have.

You tried Casey Anthony a long time ago and your verdict was a guilty one. Now, I am not saying that I don’t think Casey was guilty. It’s just I wanted the facts. I wanted to figure out if she was guilty or innocent from my head and not my heart. Everyone wants justice for a baby that died and was discarded like trash. I can’t say with 100% certainty that Caylee Anthony was murdered, because I don’t know. Did the evidence show me that? No. I wish I could say yes, but I still don’t know if she was murdered or killed by accident. But, you seem to have those answers.

See, I think you muddied the waters here. I think you took it too far. You were part of a careless smear campaign that created so much attention to the situation that a jury had to be selected elsewhere. You couldn’t just stick with the facts. You had already brainwashed people into believing that Casey Anthony was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

When Casey was found not guilty, you painted a gruesome picture for your audience, speaking in that scary story voice of yours, relaying the details of Caylee’s death. Frankly, it was a really creepy bedtime story and you ended it with nostrils flaring and stating, “The Devil is Dancing tonight!” Damn, I just about pissed my pants. I sure as hell hope you didn’t tell that bedtime story to the twins last night. You were on the brink of riling people to the level of vigilante justice.

See, I still haven’t forgiven you for your statements following the suicide of 21-year-old Melinda Duckett. Remember when you interviewed her? You lured her to your show and then…BAM! You do remember, Melinda, right? She was the mother of a missing 2-year-old, Trenton. You peppered her in prosecutor style. You pummeled her with accusing questions and she couldn’t even speak. When Melinda told you that she could not answer specific questions because she was told not to, you replied, “Ms. Duckett, you are not telling us for a reason. What is the reason? You refuse to give even the simplest facts of where you were with your son before he went missing. It is day twelve.”

The very next day Melinda shot herself. Do I think you were responsible for her death. No, I don’t. Do I think Melinda was responsible for the disappearance of her son? I don’t know. Now we might never know. At the time of her appearance on your show, police stated that she was NOT a suspect at the time. My point being, you blew it.

And you made no apologies for it. You simply stated, “If anything, I would suggest that guilt made her commit suicide. To suggest that a 15- or 20-minute interview can cause someone to commit suicide is focusing on the wrong thing.”

You convicted her even after she was dead and went on to say, “I do not feel that our show is to blame for what happened to Melinda Duckett. The truth is not always nice or polite or easy to go down. Sometimes it’s harsh, and it hurts.”

You reached a settlement of $200,000 to create a trust fund for Trenton. Trenton has never been found.

I’ve also not forgiven you for what you attempted to pull during the Elizabeth Smart case. Remember Richard Ricci? He was the guy who was arrested because he worked at the Smart’s home and because he had a criminal background. You repeatedly stated that he was GUILTY. Even went as far as to say his girlfriend was involved in the cover up. You were still openly accusing him, even when he later DIED in custody. How horrible you must have felt when it was later revealed that Brian David Mitchell and Wanda Barzee kidnapped her and Ricci was an innocent man.

When asked if you felt sorry that you accused Ricci you responded by saying,” Ricci was “a known ex-con, a known felon, and brought suspicion on himself, so who could blame anyone for claiming he was the perpetrator?”

Shame on you, Nancy.

I don’t like you, Nancy. And I don’t believe you are a crusader or an advocate for victims rights. You are a wolf in sheep’s clothing. You’re a fraud, a fake and a phony. You’re a sensationalist and a judgmental bitch who has never been held accountable for her mistakes. Over 2300 people are reported missing every single day. Think of all the time you have spent spewing out all your hateful and judgmental bullshit that could have been used to make people aware of the faces and FACTS regarding those who are still missing. Think of all the hundreds of times you said, “TOT MOM” when you could having been saying, “Brian Sullivan, Derrick Hennigan, Tyler Thomas, Brittnee Drexel, Tabitha Franklin, and the names of thousands of others who are missing. Think of all the times you could have reminded your audience of Monica Caison and the C.U.E. Center and help fund REAL searchers. People who are out there searching instead of spewing hatred.

You suck, Nancy. I find you guilty of brainwashing propaganda. I find you guilty of bullying and character assassination. I find you guilty of evoking fear into people and doing it in the name of your Christian God.

You got lost in the money jar. So, say good night, Gracie. Pack it up, shut up and go home and stop exploiting people for your OWN cause.

Chapel Hill, NC Police Searching for Missing Teen, Rosa Morrow

Chapel Hill, NC Police Searching for Missing Teen, Rosa Morrow

The Chapel Hill Police Department released a report Wednesday that states a 14-year-old girl is missing.

Rosa Morrow was last seen at her residence on Bynum Street at around 10:30 p.m. last Friday, October 22nd. Authorities say Rosa left her residence to meet with friends on Franklin Street and did not return. She is also known to visit the Durham area, where she has friends. Chapel Hill Police say they are currently considering Rosa a runaway.

Rosa is a 14-year-old African American female with brown eyes and short, black hair. She is approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall. If you have any information of the whereabouts of Rosa Morrow, contact the Chapel Hill Police Department at 968-2760.

My only question is……..Rosa was last seen LAST Friday, 10/22; why wasn’t she reported missing way prior to yesterday, an Amber Alert issued, media all over her disappearance?  An immediate alert should have been issued AND AS OF THE TIME OF THIS POST ONLY TWO media outlets have reported Rosa missing, 1360WCHL and The Daily Tar Heel.  I have not received any missing persons alerts on my cell nor in my emails.

If I have missed something I apologize……….if I haven’t then what the hell is wrong with this picture.  Just the possibility of finding her with communities being alerted may have been able to jump in to help and assist.

Isn’t there something wrong here?

A CHILD IS MISSING!

Back-To-School Safety Tips…

Back-To-School Safety Tips…

It’s hard to believe but it’s true, we are in full swing of back-to-school.  So, let’s review some basic safety tips that adults and kids need to keep in mind at all times.

Locking Up The Home and Loading Up The Kids

Here’s an important back-to-school reminder: before you walk or load the kids up for the drive to the bus stop or school, lock your doors. Those few minutes that you are away from home can be the perfect morning stop for a burglar. It may seem overly cautious to lock windows and doors when leaving for such a short time period, but the time spent doing this can deter a burglar and prevent some major problems later.

Establish the habit of basic security when leaving the house in the morning. Parents or daycare providers could make the procedure a learning experience for the children. Many people have a morning checklist to make things simpler during that early morning rush hour. Why not add a security checklist to your morning routine? Depending on the age or ages of the children, let them help you get out of the house by giving them a task that relates to their security.

The Cop Doc, Richard Weinblatt suggested in an interview for back-to-school safety, every morning just prior to the kids leaving for school, snap a picture of your children with your cell phone camera or digital camera.  This is an awesome pro-active measure that everyone should get into the habit of.  Just this simple daily picture is an amazing lead for police, God forbid something should happen to your child at school, on the way home from school – even at the mall or event.  We all know how those little ones love to hide in the clothes racks.  A daily up-to-date picture.

Older children should check and lock the windows, while the younger ones can see if the doors are locked behind you when you leave.

When you are on the way to and from school, keep watch on what is going on in your neighborhood. Look for strangers who seem to be lurking on the sidewalk, with no real purpose. Watch for cars driving slowly through the neighborhood. They might be sizing up potential targets. If you are concerned, dial 911 as soon as you return home, or on your cell phone if you have one. Try to provide a basic description of the individual or car that worries you. It will help police if they have this information.

Do not think that burglars work only at night, in the dark. They are opportunists, and will look for likely targets at any time of the day. In fact, many burglars strike during daylight hours when they believe all the occupants of a house may be at school or work. Make their life harder by taking these basic crime prevention measures.

Educate Your Children About School Safety

Officers are routinely trained in child safety and missing children investigations. With the start of the new school year, they are sharing this information with parents.

Although the Police Departments educate our children in school on stranger danger, learning about community helpers, and several other child safety topics, parents can also help. The following tips are just a few suggestions:

  • Be aware of putting your child’s name on anything that is readily visible. This might allow an abductor to get on a “first name” basis with your child and develop a sense of trust.
  • Walk the route to and from school with your children, pointing out safe places to go if they are being followed or need help.
  • Talk to your children about strangers approaching them and some of the ploys they might use.  Stress to them that adults shouldn’t need a child’s help to find a puppy or get directions; they should ask another adult for that information.
  • Teach your children that it is okay to say NO – tell them to trust their instincts.
  • Remind your children to never give the impression they are home alone if strangers telephone or come to the door.  Never open the door for a stranger, and teach them about dialing 911.

Have a wonderful, safe new school year.

Take care and STAY SAFE!

The Crime Wire Team…

The Crime Wire Team…

“When there is nowhere else for families to find answers and seek justice, the Crime Wire team is there.”

The goal of the Crime Wire Team is to bring attention to those cases in which justice may not have been served and the families of the victims don’t have the resources to pursue the investigations on their own.

BlogTalkRadio hosts Denny Griffin, Susan Murphy-Milano and Vito Colucci, Jr. will highlight homicide, suspicious death and cover-up cases for families seeking justice. “Together we can make a difference.”

Dennis Griffin an author and former investigator, renowned private investigator and former undercover cop, Vito Colucci and nationally known domestic violence victim’s advocate Susan Murphy-Milano, along with guest investigators and legal and forensic experts, will examine cases in which the investigations have left questions unanswered, and possible criminal activity unexposed. Susan’s expertise in domestic violence issues will be featured as she provides guidance for women in abusive situations that might actually save their lives.

Members of the Crime Wire Courthouse will be able to do their own analysis of the facts and evidence, and interact with the Crime Wire investigator who reviewed that same information. And in the future they will be able to participate in mock trials in which real-life attorneys argue the case before juries comprised of Courthouse members.

Crime Wire airs live weekly on BlogTalkRadio,  Tuesday evenings, 9PM EST http://www.blogtalkradio.com/crimewire

In addition, the pilot episode for the Crime Wire TV Show has been filmed and will be presented to TV networks in the near future.

Billy’s Law, S3019…Help Find The Missing Act…

Billy’s Law, S3019…Help Find The Missing Act…

Legislation is meant to help find missing people and is now before the Senate and Oklahoma Senator Coburn is now trying to block it.  He is the only Senator against the bill!  How do you put a price tag on the lives of people?  He says that it is too costly to educate the police and medical examiners.  Please contact your Senator and be a voice, United States Senate, Senators of the 111th Congress.  The House of Representative bill was number HR3695 which was passed!

Help Find The Missing Act…

“Billy’s Law,” named after Billy Smolinski, also known as“Help Find The Missing Act,” calls for more resources to identify remains. His parents, Janice and William Smolinski of Chester, met with Lieberman and Waterbury Mayor Michael Jarjura on Monday.
Last month, the House passed the bill and it was introduced into the Senate. It would set aside more funding and make other changes to help police nationwide share data more easily to help locate missing adults.
Billy Smolinski was 31 when he disappeared in August 2004 and his family has conducted exhaustive searches for the Waterbury man.
The Smolinski’s said that during their search for their son, they’ve discovered systematic problems in how missing persons cases are handled.
Testifying before a congressional judiciary subcommittee last year, Mrs. Smolinski explained that in her son’s case, his disappearance was initially dismissed by local police. Later, DNA in the investigation was mishandled, Mrs. Smolinski said.
Federal law requires law enforcement to report missing children, but not adults and not unidentified bodies.
That means databases designed to help police investigators close missing persons cases are incomplete and often unused, Janice Smolinski said.
Billy’s Law would link the only public database, known as NamUs–National Missing and Unidentified Persons System–that has information on both missing and unidentified cases, with a Federal Bureau of Identification database.
It also calls for up to $10 million in grants for coroners and police training on using the databases and for handling missing persons cases.
Please do your part and contact your Senator – in order for the bill to pass ALL Senators MUST vote YES!

ECHOES OF SILENCE

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
IF YOUR LIFE WAS SUDDENLY SHATTERED
WHEN YOUR CHILD WAS TORN AWAY
NO TIME TO SAY GOOD-BYE
THERE WON’T BE ANOTHER DAY
A CONSTANT HEARTACHE,
WHAT HAPPENED?
DID YOU SUFFER?
YOUR LIFE THEY DID TAKE
WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
TIME TO MOVE ON THEY SAY
GET OVER IT
HOW LONG WILL THIS LAST
IT GOES ON STILL ANOTHER DAY
THEY SAY YOU’VE CHANGED
UNDERSTAND THEY DO NOT
YOU CAN’T TURN YOUR BACK
MANY THINK IT’S STRANGE
WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
PEOPLE HAVE VANISHED
VIOLENTLY TORN AWAY
THEIR BODIES ARE HIDDEN
O LORD, FIND THEM TODAY
MY CHILD ONE OF THEM
NO MATTER THE AGE
LOVE, LIFE’S FORCE
CORNERED IN A CAGE
WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
HOURS TURN INTO DAYS
MONTHS BECOME YEARS
CHALLENGES ARE MANY
SILENCE THEY SAY
BLESSINGS DO COME
HUMAN ANGELS APPEAR
TAKE MY HAND
I’LL GUIDE YOU THERE
WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
WE WILL MAKE IT THROUGH
GOD WILL LEAD THE WAY
LIKE A FLASHLIGHT DOWN A DARK PATH
WE TRUST IN YOU
SO PLEASE WE MIGHT ASK
CHALLENGES ARE MANY
DON’T TURN YOUR BACK
HELP US WITH THIS TASK
WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
From the heart, to all who have a missing loved one who may have been taken violently and hidden
Sometimes pushed aside we are not contagious just need answers and heartbroken
